As a young man, Karol Wojtyla (the future Pope John Paul II) worked in the sales department of the Polish branch of the German firm I.G. Farben Industries Group (Interessen-Gemeinschaft Farbenindustrie AG). I.G. Farben ran the Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland as well as manufacturing Zylon B, the gas used to kill the prisoners.
