During a visit to Rome, Samuel F.B. Morse, the learned inventor of the telegraph machine and Morse Code, discovered a plot to destroy the liberties of the United States. According to Charles Chiniquy in Fifty Years in the Church of Rome, Morse discussed this plot with President Abraham Lincoln! He later published his information, first in the New York Observer, then in a book.
