Don’t Get Too Enraptured by the Rapture — No Comments

  1. Dear sir. Your statement that the two witnesses will lay dead for 3 1/2 years is incorrect I believe. The Bible says they “the two witnesses” will lie dead for 2 and 1/2 days before God will breath life back into them and call them to heaven. Previously in the chapter 11 of revelation, God say the two witnesses will testify for thousand two hundred and threescore days, so days mean 24hr days in this context.

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

    God bless. Tim.

    • Thank you Tim. You could be right about it being 3 1/2 literal days. This has troubled me for some time. However, I tend to believe that it is a prophetic 3 1/2 days just as the Great Tribulation is a prophetic week of years, rather than a literal week of days:

“And [the Antichrist] shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (7 years): and in the midst of the week (3 1/2 years) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.” (Daniel 9:27).

We know by Daniel 11:31 that at this time the Antichrist will place the Abomination of Desolation, the idol called the Virgin Mary, in the Holy of Holies. Because Jesus says that when this happens, head for the hills, I believe this will signal the end of the Witnesses’ testimony. In that all this happens at the midpoint of the seven year tribulation, then three and a half years would be left.

Now take note that the Witnesses will be resurrected at the end of the three and a half days. Also note that the judgment of the earth begins right after this (verse 13). That means that the resurrection of the Witnesses will occur at the end of the Great Tribulation. Because there is only one resurrection of the dead, then the Church will be resurrected along with the Two Witnesses. This means that the Church will pass through the Great Tribulation before the Resurrection. If we agree that the Antichrist will cause the Jewish sacrifices to cease and set up the Abomination of Desolation at the midpoint of the Tribulation, and that this signals the end of the Witnesses’ testimony (which makes sense, because the Bible says that right after this he will make war with the Saints and overcome them), then this would leave three and a half years before the Resurrection. For this reason I believe the three and a half days are prophetic, rather than literal.

Another reason I believe it will be three and a half years rather than three and a half days, is because the Bible says that the Antichrist will not allow the Witnesses to be buried. Because bodies are often left unburied for a time during times of war, that the Bible specifically mentions this could be the tipoff that this could be years instead of literal days. Then again, it is a violation of the Law to leave a dead body lying open–especially inside the city gates–and perhaps this is meant merely to show the contempt that both the Antichrist and the Jews have for the testimony of Jesus.

Either way, we shall find out soon enough which of these is the case. I thank you Tim, both for your interest in this subject and for your blessing, and I bless you back as well as all of your house!
